Typing an IBAN wrong can delay or bounce a payment. Paste an IBAN here and the validator instantly checks its country code, length and checksum, and shows you what is wrong if it fails. It checks that the number is correctly formed. It cannot tell you whether the account exists or who owns it.
1. Paste or type the IBAN. Spaces and lowercase letters are fine.
2. Click Validate.
3. Read the result: valid, or the specific problem found.
4. Copy the formatted IBAN if you need it.
The tool moves the first four characters to the end, converts letters to numbers (A=10 through Z=35), and divides the resulting number by 97. If the remainder is 1, the checksum passes. This catches most typing mistakes such as a wrong or swapped digit.
A valid IBAN has the right shape and checksum. It does not prove the account is open, belongs to a particular person, or can receive money. For payments, confirm account details with the recipient through a trusted channel.
An IBAN (International Bank Account Number) is a standard format for identifying a bank account across borders, mainly used in Europe and many other countries.
Paste it into the validator. It checks the country code, length and checksum, and tells you the result immediately.
No. The validator confirms the IBAN is correctly formed, not that the account is real or active.
Yes. Spaces are ignored, and the tool also accepts lowercase letters.
It depends on the country. The maximum is 34 characters.
The IBAN is sent for validation. As good practice, never enter anything beyond the IBAN itself, such as PINs or passwords.
Check for a wrong or swapped digit, a letter O in place of a zero, or a length that does not match the country.
