Favicon Generator

Turn one logo into every favicon size your site needs — PNGs, a real favicon.ico, a web manifest and the HTML tags to paste.

Selected file:

Nothing is cropped or distorted — the whole image is scaled to fit and any leftover space stays transparent.

Scales up until the image covers the square, then trims the overflow. Best for a logo that already fills its frame.

Forces the exact square shape, so a non-square image will look slightly distorted.

The ZIP holds seven PNG sizes, a real multi-size favicon.ico, site.webmanifest and favicon-tags.html with the <link> tags to paste into your <head>.

Your image is uploaded to be resized and the temporary copy is deleted straight after. Download links expire automatically.

Choose a file first — Run stays disabled until the file is selected.

File ready — press Run to start.

Favicon Generator Online

Turn one logo into every favicon size your site needs — PNGs, a real favicon.ico, a web manifest and the HTML tags to paste.

Generate Every Favicon from One Image

Upload your logo once and get everything a browser, iPhone or installed web app looks for — all correctly sized, all named the way the HTML expects, and with the tags to paste already written for you.

What Is In The Download

The ZIP contains seven PNGs — favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, favicon-48x48.png, favicon-64x64.png, apple-touch-icon.png at 180 × 180 for iOS, and android-chrome-192x192.png and android-chrome-512x512.png. Alongside them is favicon.ico, which holds the 16, 32 and 48 px sizes in one file so older browsers and bookmarks have something to show, plus site.webmanifest for installed apps and favicon-tags.html with the lines to paste into your <head>.

How To Add Them To Your Site

Upload the contents of the ZIP into the root of your site, the same folder as your index.html. Then paste the tags from favicon-tags.html into the <head> of your page. The /favicon.ico line covers the older browsers, the PNG lines give modern ones a sharp icon, the apple-touch-icon line is what iOS uses on a home screen, and the manifest line wires up the installed app.

Choosing How Your Logo Fits

Fit inside is the safe default: the whole image is kept, scaled to fit, and any leftover space is left transparent — nothing is ever cropped or distorted. Fill and crop scales the image up until it covers the square and trims the overflow, which suits a logo that already fills its frame. Stretch to square forces the exact square shape, so use it only when a slight distortion will not matter.

Why Bigger Source Images Look Better

Each size is generated by resampling your original, so a 512 × 512 PNG gives every icon real detail. When the source is smaller than 64 × 64 the larger sizes have to be enlarged and will look soft — the notes under your result say so when that happens. Transparent PNGs keep their background, which is what you want for a logo over a browser tab.

Animated Logos

A favicon is a single small image, so an animated GIF is reduced to its first frame. Design the still frame to be the one that reads well at 16 × 16, because that is the size most people actually see.

Privacy & Security

Your image is uploaded to our server to be resized and is deleted straight after processing. Download links expire automatically and your file is never shared or stored long-term.

Frequently asked questions

Which image should I use for a favicon?

A square PNG with a transparent background works best — 512 × 512 pixels if you can. Avoid thin text and very fine detail, because at 16 × 16 the icon is only a few pixels across.

Why is favicon.ico needed if I have PNG files?

Browsers have supported PNG favicons for a long time, but an .ico is still what bookmarks, older browsers and some apps reach for, and it is the first line in the standard set of tags. The generated one holds the 16, 32 and 48 px sizes in a single file.

Will the aspect ratio of my logo be changed?

Not with the default Fit inside option — the whole image is kept and any leftover space is transparent. Fill and crop trims the overflow, and Stretch to square deliberately distorts to a perfect square.

Do I have to upload the files to the root of my site?

They need to be reachable at the paths in the HTML tags, and the root is the simplest place. If you put them in a subfolder, update the paths in the tags to match.

What is site.webmanifest for?

It is what Android and desktop browsers read when someone installs your site as an app. Open the file and replace "Your Site" with your real name before uploading it.

Can I use an animated GIF?

You can upload one, but because a favicon is a single image it is reduced to the first frame. The still you choose should be the one that reads clearly at 16 × 16.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

Temporarily, yes — the resizing has to happen somewhere. The working file is deleted immediately after processing and download links expire automatically.
