Split PDF

Break one PDF into separate documents using your own page ranges — everything downloads together in one ZIP.

Selected file:

One file is created per range, in the order you write them. A single page is just its number (5), a run of pages uses a hyphen (1-3), and commas separate the parts. Pages you leave out are not included.

Every part comes back inside one ZIP, named after the pages it holds — for example yourfile-pages-1-3.pdf. Up to 50 files per run.

Your PDF is uploaded to be split and the temporary copies are deleted straight after. Download links expire automatically.

Choose a file first — Run stays disabled until the file is selected.

File ready — press Run to start.

Split PDF Online

Break one PDF into separate documents using your own page ranges — everything downloads together in one ZIP.

Split a PDF into Separate Documents

Pull apart a long document and take only what you need. Choose a PDF, type the page ranges you want, and each range comes back as its own file — named after the pages it contains, ready to send or upload on its own.

How to Use

Click the upload area to choose a PDF (or drag one onto it), then type your ranges into the Page ranges box — for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Press Run and download the ZIP, which contains one PDF per range.

Writing Page Ranges

A single page is just its number, such as 5. A consecutive run uses a hyphen, such as 1-3. Separate several parts with commas, and the order you write them is the order the files are created: 1-3, 5, 8-10 produces three documents covering pages 1 to 3, page 5, and pages 8 to 10. Spaces around the commas and dashes are fine.

Getting the File Names Right

Each PDF in the ZIP is named after the pages it holds, so 1-3 becomes yourfile-pages-1-3.pdf and 5 becomes yourfile-page-5.pdf. That makes the parts easy to tell apart without opening them.

Pages You Leave Out

Only the ranges you enter are included — the remaining pages of the document are not copied into the output. If you want everything, list the whole document, for example 1-250 for a 250-page file, or simply leave the out-of-range pages out of your list.

Ranges That Are Checked

Page numbers start at 1, and a range cannot run backwards, so 5-2 is rejected. If you ask for a page beyond the end of the document, the range is flagged as out of range before anything is processed, so you find out straight away rather than receiving a half-finished archive.

Privacy & Security

Your PDF is uploaded to our server only to build the split files and is deleted after processing. Download links expire automatically and your document is never shared or stored long-term.

Free & Unlimited

No account, no watermarks and no daily limits. Split as many documents as you need.

Frequently asked questions

How do I write the page ranges?

Use single pages and hyphenated runs separated by commas, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. That creates three documents: pages 1 to 3, page 5, and pages 8 to 10.

Can I reorder the parts?

Yes. The ranges are created in the order you write them, so listing them differently changes which part comes first.

What happens to the pages I leave out?

They are not included in the output. Only the ranges you list are copied into the new files.

Why does it say a range is out of range?

You asked for a page number higher than the number of pages in the PDF. Check the page count shown in the result and adjust your ranges.

Why was my range rejected?

Page numbers must start at 1 and a range cannot run backwards, so 5-2 is not accepted — write it as 2-5.

How many files can I create at once?

Up to 50 separate documents in one run, each from its own range.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

Temporarily, yes — the pages have to be split somewhere. The working file is deleted after processing and download links expire automatically.
