Compare two texts and see differences.
When a document has been through several edits, spotting what actually changed by eye is unreliable. Paste the original and the new version here to get a clear diff that marks added, removed and unchanged lines.
The two texts are split into lines and compared to find matching and differing sequences. Lines that appear only in the original are marked as removed, lines that appear only in the new version are marked as added, and matching lines are left alone so the changes stand out.
Reviewing a contract revision, checking what changed between two drafts of an article, comparing a config file before and after a deploy, or confirming that a translation did not accidentally drop a paragraph. A diff turns a slow visual scan into a precise list.
Treat the two blocks as before and after. Removed content belongs to the first text, added content to the second. When a line changes slightly, the whole line can appear as a removal plus an addition, which is why focusing on the words inside the highlighted line matters.
Line-based comparison is sensitive to trailing spaces and line endings. If two files look identical but show as different, normalise the whitespace first. Copying text out of different editors can introduce invisible differences.
The texts are sent only to produce the comparison and are not stored. Very large documents may be limited by the form size, so compare the relevant section when working with long files.
Paste the original in one box and the revised version in the other, then run the comparison. The differences are highlighted in the output.
Removed lines exist only in the first text. Added lines exist only in the second. Unchanged lines appear in both.
The comparison is line-based, so a small edit can show the whole line as changed. Look at the highlighted words within the line to see the exact edit.
Trailing spaces, tabs or different line endings can make lines differ. Normalise the whitespace and compare again.
Yes. It works on any plain text, including code, config and CSV, as long as the content is pasted as text.
No. The texts are processed only to generate the diff and are not saved.
Compare two texts online and see differences side by side. Paste the original and the revised version to highlight added, removed and changed lines.
How to use: paste the two texts and run the comparison to see the differences.
